today i tried to install openSUSE Leap 42.1 on a SD-card. I used a USB stick as installation medium. So far everything has gone well. The installation finished without any problems. Then I went to the Bios to select the SD-card as Boot Option #1. But I couldn't find the SD-card there! What do I have to change in order to make the SD-card appear in the BIOS? Thanks for your help! I have a Transcend USB 3.0 SD and MicroSD card reader. When I plug it in, it won't show up in the windows 7 file explorer, but it shows up properly in DiskPart and device manager in windows 7 which says it is operating properly. I Caot access any files on any SD card placed in the adapter. I have another old SD adapter that works fine, but I want to replace it with the non-functioning adapter. I cloned my existing 500 GB HDD to a new SanDisk 1 TB SSD (via CloneZilla). Instead of installing a fresh copy of Windows 10 on it, an old image of the OS created from an old HHD was used I am worried this may affect the performance/age of the SSD. I have a Samsung 850 Pro SSD that I used at my previous job. I would like to reuse this SSD and clone the HDD on my current work laptop. I dont need any of the old files on the SSD. I have the SanDisk Ultra Extreme Micro SD 64GB SDHC/SDXC Card CLASS 10 UHS-I (Not anymore at sandisk card section) and i use it in my Galaxy S4 i9500 phone to save pictures on it. I have windows 8.1 x64. Now, i insert the micro sd into Sandisk ImageMate All-in-one and coect it to my computer. I start transfering files from it and suddenly the device discoected! Even when i try to just see the properties it gets discoected. I must say it was allways working for me without any problems. Can you guys tell me why it is happening or how to fix that? A couple of weeks back a had a new ssd installed in my Macbook pro, everything was great and no problems up until the other day, where I shut down the computer and then the next time I tued it on it would load completely but then shut down by itself right after. I am able to see the ssd in the disk utility when opening in recovery mode, but I can't do anything about the drive. Everytime I try to make 1 new partition it just gives me error messages. To explain it from the start I was ruing the latest version of OS X, then when I tried to format the drive I got the error "format of archive system failed". I am trying to dual boot windows and linux by putting my second ssd in this optical drive caddy. However, the caddy is not recognized by the BIOS. As far as I can tell from this site, I am ruing the latest version for my model (v1.21). When I tu on the computer, the blue light on the caddy lights up so I am assuming there is at least getting stata power if not data. Did I get a bricked caddy? I have a SD card that contain my custom Linux that could be booted from the USBCardReader right and without any issue BUT I want to boot my SD card from the laptop inteal SD card reader and when I inserted it my BIOS did not detected it as bootable device. However I have installed GRUB2 in my HDD and when I started by GRUB2 I run GRUB2 command prompt by clicking [c] then I run [ls] command and I did not see any hd1 or mmcxxxxx device? I've given up on cloning my old HDD, and thinking of exchanging the defective ssd I recently bought, and buying a new SSD alongside a CD copy of Windows 10. As for my old files, ill just back them up to something and swap them over when the new drive is ruing. What equipment will I need? What are the steps to do this and do it right? looking for peoples advice on my delima. I was look to improve the ruing of photoshop on my laptop. Was reading that making my photoshop scratch disk on a SSD is best for performance and is better then ruing the scratch disk on the same drive as my main machine is, in this case it's on my c: drive. You don't need to reserve any space, but the less space you use the longer the SSD will last - the logic for spreading out writes is spread evenly over the disk by the drive (ie wear leveling is not an OS or file system level thing). Further, you should not need to worry too much about wear on a decent quality SSD on typical workstation loads - the number of read-write cycles is quite high. Its generally a good idea to at least 10% and preferably 20% of a partition free from a point of view of speeding up writes and reducing fragmentation - this is, however, less important in an SSD then a hard drive as SSD's barely suffer from fragmentation issues. I have a crappy Chinese ZTE G lux, a cheap phone I got because of I didn't need it for much other than some calls and other apps. It only came with about 2GB of inteal memory and it has already filled up; I have tried using a Micro SD card for extra storage and it just plain doesn't work. I have reformatted time and time again, either two things happen. I tu my phone and it gives me an error that the SD card is damaged and I should try formatting it, I tap format, it say "cleaning disk" then disappears and the same error shows up in my notifications. I have linx 8 tablet pc with windows 8.1 installed. Inteal disk space is 32 gb of which about 15 Gb is free now. But while trying to upgrade it to Windows 10, it is showing low disk space. Then I installed 32gb sd card of which about 30 Gb is free (formatted as ntfs). I also have changed default download location of c drive to sd card by right click c:/users/downloads > Properties > Location > sd card. But still dialog box is showing low disk space. It seems to be no effect on changing location of Download folder. There is only last day of free upgrade. I have a dead-ish SSD drive. BIOS can't read it, Linux and Windows can't read it. It seems like the controller is not completely dead (it does identify itself). Is there any hope of recovering the data on the drive using soft methods (without voiding the warranty)? There is nothing essential there (I do keep several backups of the really important stuff), but it would be nice to get the other stuff back nonetheless (savegames mostly, no big deal but kind of a pain), and I figure once I RMA it, it will be gone forever. After upgrading my main hard drive(c:) from OCZ agility 3(120gb) to Kingston HyperX Fury(240gb), I am experiencing constant freezing issues every few minutes. My system is a Dell XPS 730 with nvidia nForce 790i (MCP55) chipset, (no native AHCI support). There is a ton of info on the web about ssd freezing and I have tried a few fixes. Such as the LPM registry fix, downgrading my geforce graphics driver to 314.22, and disabling HDD sleep in power settings. Some sites say that it can simply be a mobo / ssd confict that is chipset based and caot be rectified. According the VMware documentation, the method VMGuestLib_GetCpuStolenMs of the vmGuestLib provides this value: The time (in ms) that the VM was ruable but not scheduled. However, if I chart the CPU ready time for the same virtual machine in the vSphere client I get different values.
