The host is Ubuntu 16.04 the virtual machine is created using VirtualBox 5.1. I'm currently trying to install Windows 10 on my device and I've downloaded the ISO file. After buing the file to my USB device, I've tried ruing it but I’ve kept getting these codes. 0xc0000098 - tm.sys (It is either corrupted or missing). So, I recently wiped my mac HDD and reinstalled OS X, and then restored everything from a time machine backup. When I went to launch any of my CS6 apps, they would just crash immediately. So, I uninstalled all of my CS6 apps using the Adobe Cleanup Tool. I've cleanly installed Windows 10 on the Surface Book and even installed the official drivers package for the Surface Book from Microsoft website but when I go to enable Bitlocker, I receive this message: "'This device can’t use a Trusted Platform Module. Your administrator must select the 'Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM' option in the 'Require additional authentication at startup' policy for OS volumes." I've checked the Device Manager and can't find anything resembling a TPM module. I've activated the TPM module in the UEFI settings. Before upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 I imaged the Windows 7 system using O&O Diskimage Professional. After a clean upgrade (wiped the original installation) I started restoring content, and eventually came across something I had forgotten to pull from my old personal folder before reinstall. To my surprise I couldn't access the /Users/myuseame folder on the image, apparentlty because its Admin and user UUIDs were now different. As an admin on a new install I would normally just assume ownership of the old content and would be good to go, but the image is read-only so I can't alter the permissions on it. I am having MAJOR problems installing Linux on my computer. Windows 10 came pre-installed. I then installed Zorin OS 10 alongside Windows to create a dual-boot computer. Everything went according to plan until I found out that Zoring OS 11 had been released. Since OS 10 was buggy and continuously getting worse, I wanted OS 11. This might be a bit of an unusual question, but I used to have windows 8.1 for the past three years on an HP Envy dv7 Laptop (it came preinstalled). Playing music in Windows Media Player used to work fine. Recently, my System Drive got smoked, so I installed a new SSD and a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate on it. Now, when I play music, it sounds like someone is rattling garbage cans in front of my ears - ok, not that bad. But there was a considerable drop in sound quality. I am about to resize my Win 10 partition to install Ubuntu. From what I read Windows partition tool will not be able to give you space you want, since it caot move certain MFT-files. Using GParted might cause Windows fail to load (does not matter where you shrink from left or right). One can try to repair it with Windows installation CD, but in my case I do not have Win 10 installation CD. I only have Win 8 installation CD and not sure if I would be able to repair Win 10 with Win 8 CD. Any suggestions? More than likely, your new laptop is using a SATA controller that is newer than what was shipped when Windows 7 was released. If Windows doesnt have the driver for the SATA controller, it caot see any disks that are coected to it. You should be able to go to your laptop manufacturer's website and download the SATA controller drivers needed. You will need to copy these drivers to a CD or USB stick. Make sure to unzip/pack them before copying them to the disk. During the Windows 7 installation, I believe at the point you are getting stuck at (I havent installed 7 in a long time, so my memory is failing me) there is an option to load additional drivers. I have 16G ram and 2T hard drive, then added 120G Samsung SSD as new boot C: (had shop do it) and 2 things happened. The performance was much better for Win boot, but sometimes on opening a drive or a directory that green bar that paints on top of the box would take a minute maybe even 4 mins to slowly paint. Other times no issue at all, fast. At the same time Search all of a sudden would miss both files and directories that were actually there. I have a high performance USB drive and decided to use it for multiple purposes: it should have an OS installed in, like Ubuntu (possibly server version for a lighter weight OS), then when I boot from this drive it can start the OS in it. it should act as a recovery disk, so I can use this one to install a new Ubuntu on other machines: when I start another machine and set to boot from this disk it can let me start installation process. it can be used as a portable data disk so I can copy & paste data: when I plug it in another ruing machine then that machine can identify the disk (it doesn't matter if there are multiple partitions identified) and let me use the disk to transfer data. I have recently installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 and Kali Linux 2. I have messed up a bit of Ubuntu by unpacking a lot of .deb files and now having problems with unmet dependencies, and I need to add more disk space to Ubuntu file system. How do I uninstall it safely, and reinstall it back after adding more free space for Ubuntu? The Grub of Ubuntu has overwritten Kali's Grub. I assume, formatting the Ubuntu partition will wipe out Ubuntu but not the Grub which will probably have Ubuntu's entry too. How do I do it safely without messing things up even more?
