I recently built a new computer, using a Z170-a motherboard, Intel cpu and gtx 970 graphics card. I double and triple checked all the coections before power up. However, when I powered up the machine, it would not boot into bios. I tried several tips off the inteet, discoecting and re-coecting all components (and powering down each time). However I still get the same result - no boot up. The DDR4 ram chips I used were 2 x 8gb ram (total 16gb), plugged into the correct sockets. I just can't understand why I can't boot up the computer. I have the Realtek HD Audio Manager installed (it came as part of the "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver") on my Windows 10 system, and this means that it replaces the default Windows volume control in the tray, as you can see here in this screenshot: However, I don't really like this Realtek HD Audio Manager. I can't single-click on it to immediately change the volume like I can with the default Windows control. However, I don't really want to uninstall the driver itself because I've read others complain that without it the quality is degraded. I'm trying to install kali linux on my pc. I bought dvd-rw discs and bued the AMD x64 ISO on it. But when I select UEFI:mydvddrive there is just black screen and my DVD drive is ruing. I waited 30 minutes but it didn't change anything. So I tried to install ubuntu. I did the same steps like I did on kali and it worked. Doesn't make sense to me. I've got a new PC from Lenovo and it is just hanging when installing KB3020369. I have tried a heap of troubleshooting steps including using wsusoffline, but it is still stuck. I can't find any logs for why it's stuck on this msu in event viewer or WindowsUpdate.log (the latter may be irrelevant when using wsusoffline). Thanks for your help in advance. I installed rEFInd 0.10.3 on my MacBook Pro and after installation by Windows 7 bootcamp installation will not boot; it says "no bootable OS found". If there is a workaround to get this working I haven't found it. I would like to completely remove rEFInd. When installing I ran: mkdir /Volumes/ESP then installed with the refind-install script I tried the uninstall suggestions here with no luck: Can not remove rEFInd on my macbook pro The removal instructions in the rEFInd documentation did not help either. I've been trying to install Java JDK 8 for like 3 days, but after clicking yes to the UAC, no installer or anything pops up. I've tried downloading older versions, tried fixing any registry errors, restarted my inteet, but nothing works. I am using SoftEther VPN for a long time. Recently I have reinstalled the Windows and it does not coect using TCP, and just coects over UDP. When I try to coect over TCP, the software instantly (it is so fast, that I believe it doesn't try to reach over network, and it is local problem!) shows following error message: Error (Error Code 2): Protocol error occurred. Error was retued from the destination server. I shall mention that I have encountered this problem once before, and at that time reinstalling the windows solved the problem (and I didn't get the real problem). I'm using an extension for Google Chrome named Eveote Clearly. Unfortunately the extension is not supported anymore by Eveote und hance not available in the Chrome App Store. But I still have it installed in my Chrome. My problem is that if I install Google Chrome on a new machine, Clearly will not be installed along with the other extensions as soon as you login in the browser. But I think it must be a way to export the necessary files from the browser instance where the extension is still available and then import it in the newly installed browser instance. I previously used this command to select english as the default language for my unattended Ubuntu installation in 14.04 and it worked perfectly: echo en >> isolinux/lang For Ubuntu 16.04 this doesn't work anymore. I need to provide a process for people in a tightly controlled corporate Windows environment, who can't access PowerShell or install wget-like software, to download very large XML files from web server interfaces that, by default, try to display 50mb+ XML files in the browser. This would crash their browsers. How can these files be downloaded? They have common Windows software like MS Office and common web browsers, and have Notepad++. The files will be processed through other (upload only) services to make them more managable sizes before being used in anything like Notepad++ directly, which will also struggle with the raw files. Okay, so that title is really messy and non-linear, as least to me, and that's because I don't know how to properly title it, but I can describe it. Essentially I have 3 hard drives in my machine. They were all working fine and appearing on Windows. Yesterday, I formatted one of those drives to have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on it. To ensure that I didn't mess anything up with the other drives, I discoected them from my machine. Several years ago I installed an application on my then Windows 7, since upgraded to Windows 10, machine. Earlier today I attempted to uninstall it while cleaning up applications I haven't used in a long time. The uninstall failed with an error message about the installer not being trusted. Current situation: PC has an OEM key from Asus for an W7 home edition. PC at this moment is ruing W8.1 pro not licensed. Goal: Update the PC to W10 without losing any information. That also includes the registery for custom installed software and programs. Tried 1: Run the windows 10 usb media tool to upgrade from the unlicensed 8.1 and entered the W7 OEM serial. Not working. My issue is rather simple, I guess. I recently installed the trial version for a set of Adobe CC products and later uninstalled them after the trial expired. I soon realized that I had another Adobe account that had never been used for Adobe CC products. So, I reinstalled Adobe CC manager and logged in with that account. I then installed Dreamweaver CC, and came to find that the manager thinks I installed the trial with the new account (which I didn't).
