Set new audio device default for volume mixer in Windows 10

I use two audio devices: Default (audio) device "Realtec Digital Output (Optical)" Default communication device "Lautsprecher (Speaker)" My goal: I want to have the default audio volume on my default communication device, instead of the default device - at all times. What I tried so far: Changing the volume mixer to my communication device explicitly works temporary, but as soon as I close the settings window, the default audio volume is reset again to the default audio device. Step 1: Clicking on volume shows me the default device: Step 2: Changing the volume mixer to my communication device manually: Step 3: Clicking again on volume does not keep the change :( How can I make it permanent t...

how to fix windows 10 x64 post sysprep error 0xc0000001 inaccessible boot device

I have successfully sysprep'ed hundred of times in the past with previous versions of windows. I have many HP Z400 with 8gb of RAM, and they are all identical. The only difference is the source system has 1 hard drive and destination has 2. I made the image, backed it up, and used sysprep. Captured and deployed the image. Issue 1. All 25 computers get 0xc0000001 inaccessible boot device. I checked the boot order although that was never changed, it was correct. I discoected the 2nd hard drive and they get past that error. The 2nd hard drive is a non bootable GPT 3tb hard drive just for storage. The hardware does not support bootable GPT or UEFI. After unplugged 2nd, it gets to sysprep, and af...

PC requires me to choose boot device to load Windows 10

Issue been driving me nuts for a while now. I'm not sure when exactly this started but I believe it first started when I upgraded to Windows 10 rc a few years ago. If I start my PC it eventually stops with a bios /bootup message "Reboot & Select Proper Boot Device or insert boot media in selected boot device." I have two hard drives in my pc. To boot into windows, during boot I press F12 to get the boot menu to pop-up where I can then select the device (p1 - WDC) and it boots fine. Some info ---> Looking in Windows under Disk Management: 1. Harddrive - ST325 Disk 0: two partitions. First is some small 24mb allocated and then a second partition D: (page file, archive primary partition) Harddr...

How can every single device on a network have a different public IP?

It is impossible for a computer to have the same public and private IP address. It is either a private IP, which is in the range 192.168.xxx.xxx, 172.16.xxx.xxx, or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx, or a public IP, which is any other address. It is possible for every computer to have a different public IP address. It simply means that whatever establishment you were at purchased the right to multiple IP addresses and their routers are configured to give one to each computer. You could probably even do this at home if you wanted to. Assuming what you said about every computer having the same public and private addresses is correct, my guess is that every computer has only a public address. All the establishmen...

NAT Loopback only effecting one device

I recently got a new modem/router (Technicolor C2100T) and I have a server (Ubuntu 16.04) with everything properly configured. With my old modem/router I was able to access the server from the public IP. With the new one I can't, but only on one computer (Windows 10). I could use the same computer and access it before. I didn't change any settings in the computer since installing the new router. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

How can I connect devices on multiple networks to one VPN to control them remotely?

Here's the challenge: I will be installing 10 TV screens into 10 different locations in my city. These are WiFi-enabled smart TV's that can be controlled via a software called MDC (Multi Display Control). MDC can only coect to screens that are on the same LAN. The problem is that I need to control all of them from a remote location. I will be able to use the locations WiFi, but will not have access to their router settings. What I've come up with: I'm not a network engineer, but I have been around computers for a while. This is my potential solution... I believe that I will need to create a VPN. The "smart TV's" can coect via WiFi or Etheet and have basic network settings (IP, Subnet Mask, R...

Is SATA bus speed unique for each device despite advertised connection speed?

I'm trying to determine what is the maximum supported SATA version on my laptop. My laptop has: one mSATA SSD, one HD, one Optical Drive. Is it possible to see the DNS resolving query in Firefox developer tools?

Using the developer tools in Firefox one can see detailed information about requests to and responses from the webserver (HTTP header and content, timing information, status codes and so on). I wonder if there's a possibility to also see similar request loggings for the DNS resolving somewhere that are done before the HTTP protocol even takes over? Or is this handled outside the browser (by some operating system component for example)? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Windows 7: Error Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device

Sometimes, when trying to eject (remove) an exteal USB hard drive, Windows 7 issues the following error: Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using the device, and then try again later. This question addresses this issue when it happens in Windows XP or Windows Vista. Are there better techniques to use in Windows 7 SP1, preferably something that does not require a third-party tool? Note that this error commonly occurs even after closing all applications and letting the system sit for 5 minutes to finish any outstanding NTFS joual writes. Indexing is disabled. There are no...

Devmon exception template to alarm only if ifAliasBox contains string "uplink" (for Xymon)

to monitor my network I use Xymon with Devmon SNMP crawler. Devmon is a perl program for extracting and interpreting data received from SMNP capable devices. Therefor templates are used for each device type/switch model. Can you please help me to form a exception template for cisco switches? I'm looking for a template which should show all interfaces in the list (if_stat column), but xymon should only trigger alerts, if one of the uplink interfaces goes down. All other ports are client access ports and if someone powers off his computer, the port should not become red in Xymon. I tried a lot of regex, but had no success. Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with those expressions, so I'm forc...

"Start Scan" has disappeared from the context menu of my printer/scanner in Devices & Printers

Windows 7 64-bit. I have a Brother printer/scaer which I installed many months ago. For a while, I was able to start a scan by right-clicking the printer under Devices & Printers from the Start Menu and selecting "Start Scan", however as of a few weeks ago this option has disappeared along with the other "Scan" properties. I reinstalled the full driver suite etc. but nothing has brought the option back, and so I have to scan using Brother's awful, clunky software now. The scaer does still work. Why is this happening and how can I restore the "Start Scan" option? Example image for illustration purposes below: Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Can zip files be used to infect an Android device with malware

Well, possibly, but it would extremely unlikely... like getting struck by lightning while being eaten by shark unlikely. First off, the virus is most likely intended for a Windows machine, putting it on an Android device would likely have no effect even if it would executed. Second, Android sandboxes applications, essentially putting up security walls to limit what they can do without your permission even as a root user, which would mitigate much of what malware could do without you giving it permission to do things like change system settings or send SMS messages. Third, is that by default 3rd party applications are disabled, so it if didn't come from the Play Store, it isn't going to be in...

Does it matter if I connect between my devices on LAN using their LAN IP addresses or the IP address visible to the internet?

At my home I have my desktop computer behind a router. There's a port forwarded by the router to the computer's ssh port. When I am using my laptop in the same LAN, I can either coect to my desktop computer on 192.168.1.something or just coect to the router's address on the inteet. Windows 10 USB only working if device plugged in during boot

I got a PC with a ASUS B85M-G motherboard and the following problem. None of my USB ports (neither at the back, nor at the front, neither USB 3.0, nor USB 2.0) work. Actually, they don't work for devices plugged in to them after Windows has booted. A device that is already plugged in during boot (mouse, usb-stick, ...) is perfectly detected and usable. When I plug in a device at runtime and then reboot Windows, the device is available. Sometimes (but not always), a Windows alert message saying "USB device not detected" or the like is shown. When that happens, there's also a unknown device called "USB-STICK" in the device manager. My device manager's usb-section looks like this: https://anchr...

Allow only specific device on specific USB

If I would buy extension cable then it will have USB female outside of my house, which will coect webcam to my computer. Thing that started to make me wondering is that someone could potentially discoect webcam from USB extension and coect something else like keyboard or device configurated for BadUSB attack. The best idea that I came up with is to allow only camera to be installed through this port on computer. Is there way to allow only my webcam to be installed through this specific USB port? I am using Windows 10 Home, if this helps This entry passed through the Full-Text R...
