I use 2 GPUs on a machine (GTX770), and I have 2 screens connected to the 2 outputs (DVI1 and DVI2). I CANNOT decide to plug a screen on one GPU and the other on the other GPU (for good reasons... ;-) ). Let's name MS the main screen: the end-user interact with it. Let's name TS the other screen (technical screen, which is used by our system for technical stuff). My issue: when the system boot (Linux version 3.1.9-1.4-desktop (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.6.2 (SUSE Linux) ), sometime the keel...

I have Fedora 24 installed using Hyper-V on top of Windows 10 (anniversary update) Trying to get the Hyper-V vGPU working, but Fedora does not recognizing it, and it doesn't even recognizing the video device if i don't have the vGPU enabled. Anyway to get some video acceleration or even just fullscreen working on this setup or should i look at different Hyper-visors? Side Question: Would i be better off testing this with Server 2016 - Which has pass through? I started this expedition after i not...

I have read this post however I still have a question. I understand that saying 32 bit processor implies registers of size 32 bit long each of which can hold up to 2^32 data. My question goes little bit further. So during the execution cycle, how does 32bit register span into the main memory? In order word, does it mean that each register can deal with 2^32 memory addresses so that any instruction in this region can be fetched in one clock cycle? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I have been searching around and comparing specifications to build a budget gaming PC. On the Intel site, i have been comparing CPUs and I noticed that the I3 CPUs, while only having 2 physical cores as usual, have 4 threads, meaning that they are hyper threaded. But with the I5 CPUs on the other hand, they have 4 physical cores and 4 threads, meaning that they are not hyper threaded, which is kinda weird for intel to hyper thread the I3s and I7s but not the I5s. As common knowledge, virtual cor...

I've used both plugins (independently of each other) off and on the last year or so and I'm trying to understand the differences between them; specifically how "scopes" work. In Policeman, there are a number of sites under Origin. I have the impression that if site A loads site Y, site B loads site Y, and site Y loads site Z, if I configure rules for site Y about site Z they apply when sites A and B load site Y. In uMatrix the blue box specifies scope, which appears to be global, site.com, speci...

I'm planning to put together a 4k pc gaming rig, in research stage. I'm really confused with the graphic cards. I was thinking of getting Asus GTX 980ti oc. Then I started researching Asus GTX 1070 oc. I'm confused because the 1070 in Canada is over $200 cheaper. I would have thought since the 980ti was released first it would be cheaper. What am I missing? Could someone please shed some light on what the 980ti offers that the 1070 is missing? Which do you think it is better for 4k gaming? Let's...

I've been following this article (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1498-page1.html). I'm new to most of it. I assume it is not an issue because Scythe Mugen is highly rated...I'm wondering how a heat-sink that weighs 650 grams attached to the motherboard will effect the board on the long run? Specially if the motherboard is vertical... Let's block ads! بخوانید...

It depends. It completely depends on what you're programming. If you are programming apps or need to use programming tools that require higher resource usage then I'd go with #1 and even go up to 16 GB ram. BUT, in general, both are perfectly fine. You can even get a laptop with lower spec and it should be fine. Again, it depends. Oh, and GPU only matter if you are programming graphics related software. I mean, do you need good graphics card to develop a servlet? No. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Just noticed something as I was playing around with the Startup folder of the Default user in both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10: For some reason, on all of my installs of Windows 10, the Default user's startup folder does not exist where it should be, C:UsersDefaultAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup, whereas in Windows 8.1 it exists. I've seen on the web that it apparently was replaced with C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartUp starting in Win7, but I have thi...

I wanted to do pdf to html conversions in GPU. In case of integrated graphics cards, it is not having its own RAM. So in those cases, transfer overhead will never be there. So in case of pdf to html conversion, parallel processing and size of file are considerations. Size of file will never be too large. Even though transfer overhead may be a problem if we use dedicated cards. If we use integrated cards, this problem wont be there. Considering Parallel processing, I think, parallelization could ...

My CPU has 18 cores, and, due to hyperthreading, 36 logical processors. However, VMware player's highest option in settings is a 16 processor virtual machine. Is there a reason for this? I have tried Googling, but have been able to find no answer. This is frustrating, as I would like to bring all my computational resources to bear. I am on a Windows 10 host, using VMware Workstation 12 player to virtualize Ubuntu 16.04, and I have a Xeon E5-2697 v4. Let's block ads! (Why?)...

Since this site asks for questions to be "answered", I will do my best to accommodate for this. Please know if you come to edit this opening statement, I will re-edit the question and add it in again. Yes, this is necessary. On to point: I use my desktop PC for both casual & gaming purposes. Out of fear that I'll eventually screw it up, I've been trying to be careful with it after gaming by doing the following: I only play games on my PC for about an hour. After playing, I immediately shutdo...
