Recently, I had problems installing vcredist from a network drive. It was because the exe file had to be accessible by the Windows Installer service. I have coected two computers over a switch. The desktop computer is ruing Linux Mint 17.3 and the laptop windows 7. The laptop only has an IP6 address for the physical lan. Desktop has both IP4 and 6. The laptop can ping the physical lan IP6 address of the desktop, but not the other way around (either IP4/6). However both computers are also coected to a router (mobile hotspot) and have wireless IPs. When using that IP the desktop IS able to ping the laptop (and vice versa). my home router changed and now new gateway is 192.168.1.254 and i see no way to change it to 192.168.1.1 I changed my physical machines to use 192.168.1.254 as the new gateway now I have around 200+ VMs all using 192.168.1.1 Is there a way to change the Gateway information without powering them on individually? last month I dropped some coffe over my laptop's keyboard and it stopped working so I bought a new one (not the exact keyboard but one very similar with the same coector). I am using Windows 10 desktop and some 2 weeks ago started to appear the following problem: network coection to the cable network gets lost randomly. It usually happens (or is detected) when I am downloading some file or viewing youtube or other online videos. Coection can be restored by resetting (disabling/enabling) local area coection network adapter. The last days it appear every 3-5 minutes, that is too frequently. So - what should I do? I have a VM on my network setup as a gateway that I use sometimes, while most of the time I just leave my PCs configured to use DHCP and just have everything go through the router. I had been swapping back and forth manual through the coection properties form but I've decided to try and make PowerShell scripts to simplify the process. I also disable IPv6 when routing through the VM, but reenable it when I use DHCP. I am ruing Chrome 51 on Windows 8.1. According to both this documentation and this source file I should be able to launch chrome with command line parameters. Yet when I try to - with the exception of --incognito - I can't get any to work. I'd like to observe requests from my machine to certain domains and optionally insert my own caed responses instead of the ones they provide. eg: any GET request to api.googlemaps.com I intercept and retu { test: "foo" } I'd like this to work for HTTP and HTTPS, though it'd be ok if I can't read the contents of the HTTPS messages, and just make up my own. The DSL coection my office usually uses is currently offline due to an service outage and I'm trying to tether to a phone as an emergency fix. Here's what I'm doing: I've got the Inteet coection propagating across the network, but I caot establish the VPN coection. It seems that either (1) the AT&T wireless network or else (2) the bridging PC is preventing the VPN traffic from getting through. AT&T support denies they're blocking any traffic. I don't have enough room available on my Mac to be able to Bootcamp it properly, so I've installed Windows 10 as a portable install on a USB flash disk using Rufus. It runs smoothly and it's fine for what I want - I rarely need to use Windows. However, I'm keen to take advantage of the free upgrade for a Windows 7 license to Windows 10 (a Win 7 Pro licence is around £20 at the moment) whilst the offer is still on for the next week. How would this license work with my portable install? I'd like to be able to use my USB stick with several different computers (including my Mac). Would this be possible? So basically the start menu works as you'd expect for almost every program I've tested - you can search for something, then click a result and it will launch the app - apart from the new Windows 10 Settings app. Any search result that uses this app like update/restore/storage etc. doesn't work. It doesn't matter if the result is listed as a Best Match, App, or Setting etc. in the retued search results - anything that requires the settings app doesn't do anything when I click/right click/press enter. I can still however open the settings app by clicking the gear/settings button in the start menu (near the buttons for power and file explorer) and use it that way. How can I fix this issue? Wind...
