I'm trying to create a simple WPA2 WiFi access point so that I can use WiFi more reliably when I'm far away from the router. I'm following this guide except I'm using a custom version of hostapd that has the driver for my USB WiFi dongle. I modify the hostapd.conf configuration slightly from the guide to create an open hotspot: interface=wlan0 ssid=WiFi chael=6 macaddr_acl=0 auth_algs=1 ignore_broadcast_ssid=0 driver=rtl871xdrv ieee80211n=1 hw_mode=g device_name=RTL8192CU manufacturer=Realtek When I do this, everything works like a charm and I can browse the Inteet when coected to the AP from my phone. But, of course, an open AP is not desirable and I wish to create a WPA2 AP so I modify the...

ادامه مطلبI´ve purchased a new monitor with 144Hz refresh rate. My old monitor support 60Hz. It got me thinking: How does vsync for a window work when it cover both screens? Do developers (like myself) have to make any special considerations for this to avoid performance drops or tearing? This question makes the assumption that vsync sync towards the slower monitor. This is at best plausible when the refresh rates has a decent common divider, such as 60Hz for a 60Hz and 120Hz screen. However if I set my screens´ refreshrates to 60Hz and 144Hz the common divider is 6Hz, ie not very impressive. Indeed, my faster monitor could be set to 59Hz, making the common divider 1Hz. If the sync however really is f...
ادامه مطلبSo I have a Telsec TS-9000 modem, and I'm testing an old computer, using Windows XP SP3, firewall disabled, antivirus disabled, not behind a router, the modem's DMZ is disabled, I forward the port 8080, tried other ports too, but whenever I test them on online PING services, like this one ttp://ping.eu/port-chk/, it tells me the ports are closed. Have already restarted the modem. And the IP being used for opening ports is 192.168.1.3, any other than that, my IP is dynamic, I don't know how to say that, perhaps one it's local IP and the other one is my ISP IP. I really need to open those ports. Also, when I go to firewall settings and hit the option Filter IP/Port, the first two options Outpu...
ادامه مطلبI am fairly green to the networking game but I will try to explain the best I can. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3. I have dnsmasq and hostapd to create a wireless access point. I was successful in doing so as well as port forwarding the inteet from ETH0. However, directions have changed. What I want to accomplish is to continue utilizing my RPI as a wireless access point yet without inteet access. What I would like to achieve is to have a wireless access point that hands out IPs (dhcp server) as well as an Etheet (access point?) static network that hands out IPs (dhcp server) if requested. I would like to have a setup like... rpi_eth0->static IP = 192.168.1.3 rpi_wlan0-> static IP = 196.168.1.4...

I have linked each tick box with the Yes/No cell for each question (very time consuming) but I need to now have a final score on the last page to add up all Yes (True) answers so i can then do another formula to calculate the percentage. I have not really got room to add another column on each page as space is limited. I was hoping there is a formula i can use at the end to cover from Page 1 to end? ادامه مطلبHere's the challenge: I will be installing 10 TV screens into 10 different locations in my city. These are WiFi-enabled smart TV's that can be controlled via a software called MDC (Multi Display Control). MDC can only coect to screens that are on the same LAN. The problem is that I need to control all of them from a remote location. I will be able to use the locations WiFi, but will not have access to their router settings. What I've come up with: I'm not a network engineer, but I have been around computers for a while. This is my potential solution... I believe that I will need to create a VPN. The "smart TV's" can coect via WiFi or Etheet and have basic network settings (IP, Subnet Mask, R...
