I am building a new desktop PC using an SSD as the main drive. The case provides a spot in the back of the case (effectively behind the power supply) for mounting an SSD. See attached picture that show the location of the mount. As you can see, since it's behind the backplate, I suspect that there will be considerably less airflow back there, but it will free up one of the drive bays. Should I be conceed about this? I can see that I have a new update on my machine 'Upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise, version 1511, 10586'. The Windows update is constantly nagging me to restart my computer but when I do restart (I select 'Update and restart' nothing happens, the machine just restarts normally. When I go to the knowledge base link for the update (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3012973) I get 404. I've tried ruing: sfc /scaow DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth MediaCreationTool.exe SFC and DISM reported no errors and everything looks to be ok. Going by my prehistoric knowledge on how to set up a dual boot with Windows and Linux, I set out to install debian over my Windows 10 installation. My single hard disk was originally partitioned into an OEM partition, a couple of recovery partitions and a primary OS partition. For the debian install, I shrunk this primary partition and created a new one for debian. After booting into the Debian installer, I got to the partitions sections where I thought I would be presented the option of selecting my newly created partition which I created by shrinking my original 1TB one. I don't know what's going on, but none of my installed node packages are actually registered. npm and node work fine, but if I sudo npm install -g ffmpeg or brew, they're listed at /usr/local/lib/node_modules but brew -v and ffmpeg -v don't do anything "command not found" Any help is much appreciated, I'm pretty new with command line stuff. I think I'm confused on the difference between npm and brew... Does npm symlink to the command line, or only allow require("brew") within node instances? I have Windows 7 on a regular SSD. I added a PCI-E SSD to my system, and I installed Windows 10 on it. When I attempted to boot to Windows 7, I received an error that winload.efi was damaged, and now I caot boot into Windows 7. I attempted to Repair it by using my Windows 7 Ultimate disk, but that too received an error that my version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. I booted Ubuntu on USB, used gparted to format the PCI-E to raw, but now I realize that Windows 7 caot see the disk. I am thinking my only option may be to get a new SSD/HDD, and install a new copy of Windows 7 on the separate disk to overwrite the garbage Windows...

When I open an office file (I've tested Word / Excel) that I downloaded from a browser (chrome, ff, Edge), regardless of the source (gmail, dropbox web download) I get the following error: This is on a box with: Windows 10 (genuine license) Office 360, installed locally - not the online version. (also licensed) If I take the same word file, open it in another computer and then re-save it in a shared dropbox file, I can open it from the problematic computer no problem. I've just been through the VS Code installation process twice. The initial install is quick and painless (as is the editor itself), but I have had to remember the list of extensions I installed and am installing new ones a great rate. With Sublime Text, I'd just copy a settings file to another PC and could auto-install any workflow dependencies that way, but what is the approach with VS Code? I have a laptop with Win8.1, and I decided I should upgrade it to Win10. While it was updating, I plugged my phone coector for it to charge. Then I realized that all of my USB ports are not working after the Win10 upgrade. I decided to look up for certain fixes, yet I caot find one. If someone ever booted up a GNOME desktop and accessed the terminal you would be quick to realize that the scroll wheel is able to move back and forth through command history. To me this is an ideal feature for a terminal especially for those long code outputs with a find command. However minimal installs do not come with this feature so its up to someone to fill in the gaps from scratch. So I've been trying for the past few days now to encrypt my Kali install with LUKS. I've mostly been switching through different Linux distros to see what might be a good fit. I didn't choose to encrypt my installation when I installed because I didn't think I would be with Kali for very long. However, I found that I enjoy using Kali and I like the feel of it, so I decided I'd like to encrypt it. Today I got really frustrated when tried to upgrade a friend's Lenovo laptop from Win8 to Win10. The upgrade just fails no matter what I try... And I tried a lot of things... Every day, or after 2 or 3 days my sound card stops working. If I look to Device manager the sound card is listed with a yellow question mark. The drivers are gone. I have installed the drivers a few times now but it keeps happening again. After installation of the drivers the sound works until Windows decides to uninstall it again.
