Installing Nvidia drivers on Debian

  • نیلوبلاگ

I have been trying to install the Nvidia drivers on the latest version of Debian, but all I have been getting is a black screen. When I hit ctrl alt f2, I can get to a terminal, but I am not sure where to go from here. When I try to reinstall the drivers, the terminal basically says that these 3 packages encountered errors while processing: libgl1-nvidia-glx:amd64 Nvidia-driver Xserver-xorg-vidia-nvidia So clearly this is my issue, I just do not know how to fix it. My graphics card is a gtx 970 and I DID NOT use the driver installers from the nvidia website, I got them from the non-free Debian repositories. Any help would be appreciated! • What happens if I install a software/application onto a dmg application/software installer?

  • نیلوبلاگ

The answer depends on whether you're using Windows or Mac OS as Operating system. DMG files are Mac OSX Disk Image files, same as disk image ISO files in Windows. The DMG files normally contain program installation files for Apple applications, but they can also be used to hold compressed files. If you're using Windows, then you won't be able to install the application, but you can extract and edit files containing it. For this you need 7-ZIP and DMG Extractor. When you install the Java Development Kit (JDK), the associated Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed at the same time. The JavaFX SDK and Runtime are also installed and integrated into the standard JDK directory structure. Depe...

  • Java JDK 8 installer doesn't pop up after UAC

  • نیلوبلاگ

I've been trying to install Java JDK 8 for like 3 days, but after clicking yes to the UAC, no installer or anything pops up. I've tried downloading older versions, tried fixing any registry errors, restarted my inteet, but nothing works. I know I'm downloading the right version for my operation system, but either way, 32 bit nor 64 bit works. However, I can install Java JDK 7 just fine. Any solutions? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

  • How do I uninstall an application whose installer has a revoked signing certificate

  • نیلوبلاگ

Several years ago I installed an application on my then Windows 7, since upgraded to Windows 10, machine. Earlier today I attempted to uninstall it while cleaning up applications I haven't used in a long time. The uninstall failed with an error message about the installer not being trusted. (Cellphone pic because I can't screenshot the secure desktop.) After a bit of investigation I think I found the problem. The signing cert has expired and was revoked by the issuing CA. Stymied with the original installer I went to the vendor to see if I could bypass the issue by upgrading to a newer version and then uninstalling that. Unfortunately I struck out there. The current version of the applicat...

  • Debian wrong login and TTY resolution on 4K screen

  • نیلوبلاگ

I have just installed debian mate on a laptop that has a 4K screen resolution, which by default sets the resolution to 3840x2160. I've been able to change grub resolution to 1280x1024 using GRUB_GFXMODE but the greeter screen and the TTYs will always use the default resolution. I've unsuccessfully tried using GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep or setting it to the same value as GRUB_GFXMODE. I'm ruing with an intel graphics card, no nvidia or radeon. I've also tried to set it using xrandr although I get a Can't open display error. How can I set a more reasonable resolution (i.e. 1280x1024 or similar)? Available resolutions: $ sudo hwinfo --framebuffer 02: None 00.0: 11001 VESA Framebuffer ...

  • VBox Debian/Ubuntu - Automatically mount shared folder

  • نیلوبلاگ

First make sure you've installed Guest Additions on your virtual machine. If you didn't see this. Go to Virtual Box, your virtual machine and click Settings. Create a folder within host (using Windows 7) or choose one. Remember the Folder name we will use it when setting up our shared folder in guest (Debian / Ubuntu). Wait! Auto-mount? I see "Auto-mount" option there! This option will make your shared folder mounted automatically on guest boot. This is what we want! BUT. Checking auto-mount will mount your shared folder into /media/<your folder name> in your guest. TIP: Type df command into console to see where is your shared folder mounted. If you are fully satisfied with this way....
