I need a small script to download some programs. The URL's never change but the files do. Like when you download malwarebytes. Example: "https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbam_current/" The address doesnt change but the file name downloaded does. Every script i see, requires that you specify a file name. I dont want to do that, I want the script to pull the filename from the sites header which would include the version name of that file in that filename. I cant seem to find any way of doing this. Please help me o wonderful smart people. It needs to work on any version of Windows 7 and up. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

VI / VIM are very powerful text editors. Is there such a similar program for editing spreadsheets? Libreoffice Calc is okay, but it isn't that powerful. Again, Matlab is good for scientific work but it's not free to use software. Does VI / VIM have a spreadsheet editing mode or plugin or something? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I'd like to be able to run a curl command on my local machine or on my server, and have a push notification be sent to my cell phone. I can already get the same effect with a text messaging service, but I was wondering what push notification services are available. Basically I want an alert on my phone when events happen, for my own personal use, and was wondering what's the best way to do that. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

In my previous question, I tried to block certain websites using the hosts file. Now as I am the administrator of the system, I waa limit the ability to write on hosts with a password.I have read this question. But I don't like 3rd party softwares, because I think you can always sneak out by uninstalling the software. As you see in the following photo, I have checked deny for the write access to the file.I want to be able to alter deny to allow just by entering a specific password that is different from the windows password which is used to log in. Is there anyway? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I recently bought a Zenbook UX305UA and the standard smart gesture driver offers almost no options for costumization. I have tried to install some Synaptics and ELAN drivers but i can't seem to get any to them to work. Does anyone know of a touchpad driver that offers more options for costumization and is compatible with the Asus Zenbook? Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I'm looking at moving to Windows System Image for my backups as I'm realising that just backing up user files is still going to leave me with days of installing and configuring in the event of a disaster. I've got three disks - my boot SSD (128GB), an application/working data drive (1TB) and a user data drive (2TB). The total amount of data on these drives is about 2.5TB. Currently I already have a bunch of 2TB exteal drives for backups and would obviously like to keep using them if possible. From some preliminary reading I've seen that Windows ignores empty space when imaging (unlike a disk image) and will attempt to compress any compressible files so I suspect I can fit a single image on m...

Most chipsets have a volume control where 100% is in fact a x2 amplification factor: the real 100% may be around 50%, ie the sound is not amplified. The advantage is when the incoming sound is too low, then boosting at 80% or 100% alow to ear it.The drawback is generally awfull sound when played on good loudspeakers. The same rule often apply to the volume knob of exteal speakers: the non-amplified volume is around 25% or 50%. The volume control inside Youtube and other web apps is generally only a decreasing factor: at 100% the output is only 100%.Then the sound will pass in the chipset, where it can be amplified or not, depending of the volume settings you have in Windows/Linux/whatever. I've been searching here and elsewhere on the net to resolve this one. Long story: In later versions of Windows, USB Microphones seem to lose about 3 bits of dynamic range, and their level setting seems be be virtualized (no longer matches the hardware analog gain setting in the USB A/D chip, instead is scaled somehow by the audio system). In WinXP and prior, when the level setting was changed (by user or the software), it matched the gain settings in the chip., so I knew what it was... Anyway, I've seen no documentation about exactly WHAT Windows is doing to the USB Mic stream, and my app needs to know the actual gain that was applied in the A/D chip. Please don't just tell me the "right wa...

I trying to make an XP Virtual machine for use in pentesting. I have an old XP PC with pre-installed XP on it (not a disk unfortunately). So, I need a way to create a bootable ISO from my XP OS. Also, my 'i386' file is NOT in my C drive but instead in another folder in my c drive along with my an AMD file(?). Looking at tutorials it seems I can't go the usual way and even if I could i can't find a windows boot sector to use. I saw CDbuerXP and wondered if you can just copy an OS to an ISO, which it looked like you could in their tutorials, but it looks like it might just be the data. SO i'm a bit stuck of what to do. Any spare ISO's with registration keys anyone had would be brilliant (SP1 o...

For example, when I just google something or even here on stackexchange.com or reddit.com (or youtube, most any website really), everybody insists on making the background completely white, which is really harsh at night sometimes. I was just wondering if there is an option out there somewhere (even if only for select websites) to always keep the background black and just the text / images / videos white. You'd think the websites would give you an option to choose the background color you want, but they don't. I would think it wouldn't be that difficult to implement. Just make everything with black text white, put white borders on black boxes, and leave the rest. Obviously inverting the colo...

I have a nokia c5-03 phone. Suddenly the touch has gone. But I badly need the call log ( actually some receive call numbers and missed call numbers). Is there any way to get those? I tried using PC suite. But PC suite doesn't have any way to get call log. I also tried to use oxygen phone manager - suggested at some blogs/forums, but could not solve my problem. I have a pc with linux ( if this info comes of any help). Let's block ads! بخوانید...
