What are my options for distributed computing software?

I want to use distributed computing in the cloud to deal with big data for data science competitions (Kaggle). What are my options for distributed computing software? So far I know of Apache Spark, Hadoop, and MATLAB. Are there any others I'm not aware of?

As a side question, which one is most likely the best to use? So far it seems like Spark, since it is faster than Hadoop MapReduce, has a lot of built in features (e.g. MLlib machine leaing), and is free.
