Trouble cloning git repository in Cygwin

I am new to git, and currently working through the first tutorial on cloning a repository (see link below). I have created a repository on bitbucket, and am trying to clone it in Cygwin.

I have git installed:

Bob@User ~/repos
$ git --version
git version 2.8.3

https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials/lea-git-with-bitbucket-cloud/copy-and-add-files

I am trying the command

Bob@User ~/repos
$ git clone https://[email protected]/User/bitbucketstationlocations.git 
bitbucketstationlocations'...

No directory is created, and it does not ask for a password (as the tutorial states it will).

Do I need to change setting in the .bashrc or something? Not sure what the problem may be.
