Windows 10 flickers through windows or appears unstable for few seconds after unlocking

Since I have upgraded Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, I notice that Windows would appear unstable immediately after unlocking.

It doesn't happen right after a very recent restart, however as time passes by (I normally put it to sleep every evening and leave it running but locked during the day), it get progressively worse. At first, nothing out of ordinary happens - unlock the computer and everything is just the way you left it.

Next day, after a night of sleeping, things start to flicker just for half a second. The windows get confused as to what extend they should be maximized (I have the taskbar always visible, on the right side instead of the traditional bottom) - they flicker between full-screen maximization and maximization within the visible area outside the taskbar. Sometimes they even get stuck in full-screen maximization, with the close and restore buttons hidden under the taskbar - only a minimize and restore can fix it.

By the fourth or fifth day, it's gotten so bad that Windows will do a quick slideshow of all open windows for about 1-2 seconds immediately after unlocking. It just flicks through every open window on-screen, as though searching for something, displaying each one after another. Then it stops.

The effects don't last longer than 3 seconds (unless a window gets stuck in the wrong maximization state), and Windows is very stable after that, until the next unlock.

Is this common? Is there any way to fix this? I'm thinking I may have to "refresh" the PC or clean-install Windows 10, but it's my work computer and a downtime of setting up everything again is something I would love to avoid. I didn't have any such issue with Windows 7 which worked flawlessly resuming from sleep and unlocking.
