Can I delete all of the log files in windowslogs?

I'm running windows server 2008 and windows server 2012 without issues so what is the use for keeping windowslogs files? All they do is take up space for no reason as far as I can see and I don't understand the need for keeping ANY logs that are older than one year, max.

I'm looking for productive informational replies only, so please don't clog up my inbox by replying if all you want to do is ask me inane questions like "Why do you want to delete them?". That is an utterly irrelevant response to the question I am asking and serves no useful purpose. Thank you.
