I have an application that requires 32 bit Windows XP to run (which worked with Windows 7 XP mode). I've been trying to set up a Windows XP virtual machine on Windows 10 with no luck. My CPU is an Intel Core TM 2. It supports virtualization but not SLAT, so I am unable to use the Hyper-V platform.

HYPERVISOR - Hypervisor is present
VMX * Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization
EPT - Supports Intel extended page tables (SLAT)

If I try to create a Virtual machine from the VHD file in my AppData folder using Virtual Box, I get an error
AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Virtual PCVirtual MachinesWindows XP Mode.vhd'
is not found in the media registry ('C:Usersuseame.VirtualBoxVirtualBox.xml').
A few sites said that you had to merge the VHD with the base VHD, however there doesn't seem to be a straightforward way to do this in Windows 10.

Do I need to create a Windows XP VM from scratch using a new license?
