Do I need a new windows license to move an enterprise computer off the company domain?

So my last company went out of business and I a free laptop out of it. Yay! Now I want to reformat it with a clean version of Windows that isn't managed by the enterprise. Do I need to buy a new license? If not, how do I reformat, where do I get an image? Thanks!
