Preamble: I have a Dell Windows laptop with a Killer Wireless card. I made a partition and installed Ubuntu because I am used to Unix-style development environments (Windows is for light browsing, gaming, entertainment, etc). It seems that Ubuntu does not recognize my wireless card. It does not show up with $ ifconfig.
I found this help page: http://www.killeetworking.com/support/knowledge-base/17-linux/20-killer-wireless-ac-in-linux-ubuntu-debian
But the instructions are not clear. I have installed drivers before, but usually they are simple $ make; $ make install; procedures. After putting the files where they belong, as the link suggested, I tried that procedure. $ ifconfig; still shows the driver is not installed and I still can't access WiFi.
I've also tried reading the section on driver installation in "Linux for Beginners" without any luck.
Thank you in advance for all your help! (Full disclosure: I am used to developing on OS X for work. Because I don't want to spend $3k on a laptop, I have Ubuntu on a partition)
