I have some SDLT II tapes that were made with brightstor a few years ago. I don't know anything about the tapes besides that fact of who made them. When I try to see how data was stored on the tapes:
dd if=/dev/st0 of=./testfile bs=64K
file testfile
>testfile: data
I get that. Is there another way to try and determine what type of file this is? I know the brightstor had the capabilities to store on tapes as cpio, tar, or brightstor format. But as far as I know there is no way to extract a brightstor format on linux. If someone could give me a pointer or something on what to do now that would be great. Thanks.
