VirtualBox, why can't I use more CPU?

I have a six core, 12 thread processor. two virtual threads per one core.

I have the option to allocate one to 12 CPUs. There are waings about allocating more than six CPUs not doing anything.

When I allocate six CPUs, the virtual box is able to use about half my computers processing power. When I allocate 12 CPUs, Virtual box will consume twice the power for half the work.

How do I allocate all 12 threads? Or how do I allocate 6 cores and let virtual box use 2 threads per core?
