Configure initramfs-tools to make more than one set of images

As it stands, update-initramfs will go through the files undeeath /etc/initramfs-tools and build initial RAM disks for each keel under /boot. All of these images are built from the same configuration. Is it possible to make initramfs-tools build one or more sets of images? Like have one initial RAM disk configured to use IMA and one that isn't?
