Connecting a VM to Domain Controller on the same Physical System

خرید بک لینک

I have a Domain Controller installed on a Windows Server 2012, which is inside my home network (router from ISP, that is currently controlling DNS).

I have used Hyper-V to create a VM (which is also a Windows Server 2012 OS), which I am trying to connect to this Domain Controller on the main physical machine on which the Hyper-V VM is running.

When I try to ping the main physical machine it is pinging with the IP address or the name of the server, but when I use the full domain name, it retus that it was unable to find it:

a) Domain Name: CORP.domainname.com

b) Host Machine: HOME.CORP.domainname.com

c) VM Machine: vm1 (cannot join domain, as it says it cannot find the DC)

If I ping (from the main DC machine):

ping 192.168.0.8
-- No issues, it retus the ping

ping vm1
-- No issues, it retus the ping

If I ping (from the VM machine):

ping 192.168.0.2 (HOME.CORP.domainname.com)
-- No issues, it retus the ping

ping HOME
-- No issues, it retus the ping

ping HOME.CORP.domainname.com
-- Cannot find the system with this name

Even when I try to convert it to the Domain instead of Workgroup (on the VM machine):

Use: CORP.domainname.com
-- this gives error that it cannot find the DC

Use: CORP
-- Same error that it cannot find it

Is this due to my using a Router (SagemCom F@st 3864) which already is a DNS also for the local network of my home/office? This has been provided by the ISP and I am able to change the settings on it, but have not done anything and it is pre-configured as it came from the ISP.

The Domain Controller has been setup with DNS and DHCP also, but not sure if it is working, as it still uses the inteal IP from the Router (192.168.0.2)

Is there some change I need to do to the Windows Server 2012 (Datacenter Configuration, not Standard Server), which is the Domain Controller and runs the Hyper-V VM? If so what needs to be done (change the IP to 10.x.x.x type?)??

I have read through many blogs and web-pages, but unable to find this scenario and what is to be done in this case.

I am trying to run a Lync Server and an Exchange Server on the VM and want them to be on the same Domain to do this. I have verified multiple times that the Domain Controller has been setup correctly with all the services running and patched to the latest (Windows Server 2012 R2 with latest updates)
