Unwanted calendar reminders in Outlook for Mac (Office 365 Business Subscription)

Using Outlook for Mac v. 15.23 with an Office 365 subscription my employer manages.

Several weeks ago, my boss created a Calendar appointment with a to-do list of tasks to be completed 6/16/2016 between 12 and 1pm.

He never meant for me to see this list, or assign these to-dos for me. I got a reminder for the appointment that I could not remove or dismiss. A week after the appointment due date I was still getting the notification popup.

The unwanted calendar reminder still shows up in my desktop, after my boss deleted the appointment, I removed his calendar from my calendar views and I logged out of Outlook, uninstalled and reinstalled Office 365 desktop apps.

How the appointment appears in Reminders

The appointment reminder is for an event that occurred in the past, is no longer on my calendar, and for an event I was never meant to see. I am using the Ooutlook for iOS app on my phone and do not have the same reminder, nor does it show up in the Office 365 Mail Web app preview.
