Temporarily stop all Microsoft Windows Defender processes

I have a huge sync going on right now and MSWD (Microsoft Windows Defender) is got a hold of a bunch of memory and is hitting my drive with a lot of I/O disk requests as well. I know how to disable MSWD all together but I do not want to reboot my PC while this sync in going on. I also have already tued off real-time protection and that did not accomplish what I'm after. I really just want to restart the MsMpEng.exe application more then anything.

Is this possible in any way? I just want to disable it temporarily and NOT have to reboot the PC.
