KVM Spice Performance for Windows VM

I am ruing Windows 8.1 in a KVM virtual machine with ok-ish performance. Problem is, the "display" of the VM (Spice) is very laggy.

Is there a prefered way to display the screen of a Windows VM ruing in KVM that has better performance compared to Spice?
