My laptop is always plugged in, running my media services and print/scan services, and I am looking for a solution that will exercise the battery a little so it's not sitting at 100% all day.
Ideally, I want something that will sense when the power usage drops (i.e. full charge) and shuts off for a few hours. Then it would tu back on and charge back to 100%.
Does such a device already exist? If so, what would it be called so I can find specific products?
TIMERS
Simple timers won't do the trick. They won't tu off when the battery is full like a smart switch.
SMART SWITCH
I've looked at "smart switches" and "vampire switches" which tu off low-draw devices. This almost works - I've used them for phone charges to great effect - but they don't tu back on automatically.
SMART DEVICES
Smart devices like Belkin WeMo will not work for me. I want to find a passive setup that does not rely on network services.
MIX/MATCH
Could I creatively stack 2-3 timers/smart switches to do what I'm looking for?
