Cannot ping, but can connect to the inteet - Windows 8

I am not able to ping google.com or any other host when connected to etheet (request timed out), however I do have network connectivity. When I connect to Wi-Fi on the same network, I am able to ping. I also tried disabling the firewall, and that did not work, so it is not a firewall issue.
