How can I force Mint 17.3 Cinnamon to ignore a grub error to complete the installation? Or how can I fix the grub lock?
I am attempting to reinstall Mint Cinnamon 17.3 on a Microsoft Surface 2 Pro with Windows 10.
The instillation cancels with:
The 'grub-efi-amd64 signed' package failed to install into /target/. Without the GRUB boot loader, the installed system will not boot."
Windows 10 boots correctly. And I have deleted the ubuntu folder from the efi partition. I used easyBCD to check that the boot record is good. And the problem persisted after disabling hibeation in windows.
Is there a way to make the install ignore the error? If it completely installs, I think I might be able to patch grub separately.
I want to install from the iso because the install is customized for my machine type. I used the iso from https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfaceLinux/Idea/3w8du2/outofthebox_support_for_linux_mint_173_cinnamon/
