Can ffmpeg record any kind of window?

I'm using below command to record as video a specific Window but it doesn't seems to work to any windows which isn't a video player one. Does it work for other windows?

Here's the command line I'm using:

ffmpeg -f gdigrab -framerate 30 -i title="my window" -b:v 3M foo.flv

if my window isn't notepad for example, i get the following error:

[gdigrab @xxx] Invalid properties, aborting title=my window: I/O error
