On Windows 10 cannot reconnect after disconnect from working VPN connection

Under settings -> network & inteet I have added a VPN connection that works on connect. When I try to disconnect, it disconnects. The problem is trying to reconnect after that. When I click connect on the Windows 10 VPN entry again it blinks quickly showing "connecting...", then without error displays the "connect" "advanced options" "remove" buttons again. Rebooting allows me to reconnect again, but only once just as before. Any workarounds or fixes?
