Folder pane in Thunderbird for UbuntuGnome 14.04 Pop 3 Duplicate folders

I do not know how to correct a fault in the folder pane display of Thunderbird 38.8.0 using Pop3 not imap.

Referring to the pic link below:

1. Note the duplication of the inbox with its subfolders. The inbox should only appear once but here it repeats 3 times with the same messages in it.
2. The bold heading Inbox should not be a subfolder of Drafts and at the end of the Drafts subfolders is another folder called Drafts.The 0-17 subfolder appears twice under in the inbox subfolder of Drafts.

The pic shows the folder pane without any TB addons enabled.

Does anyone know how to correct the display and remove the duplicated folders? Is there a file I can edit showing the order of the subfolders below the drafts folder? Is there an app that could clean this up?
