Right way for changing the IP address of my system

everyone! I was looking for a near answer to my sitution but I couldn't find it. I have my two PCs which access Inteet through a hub connenected to a DSL modem (via cable). I would like to know the right way to change the IP address of that configuration. Is it enough to release the IP address of the modem by entering the page indicatred in the manual (192.168.0.1)? Is it not necessary to change anything in the PCs, which work on Windows 7?
