I did a deep search to see if I could find an answer. I had posted this on stack overflow and was guided here.
I found that an important folder was mysteriously missing on my (toshiba) exteal hard drive. I copied everything from the drive onto a new drive (seagate). It copied 77gb onto the new drive but the original (toshiba) has 231gb on it. So I'm thinking the folder and files may still be there.
Then the permissions changed on the toshiba to Read only. And I can't change the permissions through Disk Utility. I'm lost. It seems as if everything went fine except for the large folder. And I noticed that the "seagate installer" appeared on the older toshiba drive. I did look through the flew that did transfer over to see if maybe the folder got accidentally moved to another location. But the size of the original vs. new drive data seems to me that it wasn't that it had been moved. The permissions issue is weird and has tied my hands. I don't want to reformat and lose the hidden folder.
I'm not a huge tech guy so any info would be helpful. Are there any ideas or software that would help me? Long ago I used Disk Warrior for a problem and it worked good for me. But that was a long time ago. Thank you in advance!
