How to resolve multiple OneDrive client installs since update?

I had Microsoft's OneDrive for Business installed on my work machine that used the directories OneDrive - <company name> for my own work files and a SharePoint directory, that uses the SharePoint icon in place of a folder icon, usually used for commonly shared files, Both of which resided within a folder named OneDriveBusiness which I cannot recall if I created, the system created with the last update or the system created when I initially began using OD.

Since an update to ODfB last week, I now have three OD clients running on this machine. The old one, which now appears to sync the SharePoint directory but not the original One drive - <company name> directory which is nevertheless still there, another new directory named OneDrive - <company name> residing in my user profile directory that contains a second copy of all my personal work files and finally the personal OneDrive has re-enabled itself (I had previously disabled it's start-up process) and synced my own personal, non-work files to a directory named OneDrive.

There is still only one single OneDrive client listed in Add/Remove software.

  • The older copy of the One Drive - <company name> folder no has the green tick (or any other) file icon decoration so I'm guessing this is no longer synced.

Can I resolve this so that I have just one client running that syncs just the SharePoint and the personal work files directory? Is the next gen client able to do both (SharePoint and ODfB files)? If not is the older client still available and supported?

  • Local advice was that the client should resolve this itself and when the new copy was fully synced the old one would be merged/deleted. This has not happened however.

  • This machine currently runs Microsoft Windows 7 Professional and is on the office LAN but is not domain-joined

EDIT: If I look in Task Manager I see two OneDrive.exe *32 processes and a GROOVE.EXE *32 process.
