uTorrent streaming fails to keep up with small piece sizes

So I start downloading a 2GB video file that lasts for an hour with a download speed of 1MBps. the piece size of the torrent is 512kB.

uTorrent then queues 15-20 pieces to be downloaded simultaneously. The download speed hits 1MBps max I have and all is great.

And then I decide I want to watch the file right away. So I copy the stream URL and open it in Media Player Classic HC. And then it all goes to hell.

You see, uTorrent drops it's 15-20 pieces policy and starts to download only 2-6 pieces at the time. The result is, while the download speed is technically still 1MBps, the time it takes for the torrent to download is really 750kBps, if you measure it. At that speed, the stream can't keep up. I don't think it happens when the pieces are bigger.

Is there any way to force uTorrent to download 15-20 pieces simultaneously, even when streaming? What's the real issue here, even? How do I fix it?
