How to prevent Windows from adjusting displays when TV is tued on?

My PC setup includes a monitor I regularly use, and a TV to watch movies and stuff.

My graphics card has an HDMI output and a Display Port output. So I've connected both my displays to my graphics card, and switch between displays using Windows-P as needed. This is working fine.

Assume that the monitor is on and the TV is off. When I tu on the TV, Windows automatically detects it and adjusts the displays, and while doing that, the screen goes black for a second or two. Normally this is not a problem, but it becomes a problem for say, gaming.

The question is; How do I prevent Windows from adjusting display settings automatically. I want to be able to do this manually though.
