Can I use a PC with a monitor as a server for wireless display for Android phone?

The web is full of articles about how to coect [a device] to a WiDi-enabled TV set, and if the answer to my question is available somewhere on the net, it's thoroughly lost in these results.

Is there a way to emulate that kind of TV set functionality on a PC - to use its nice big monitor to display content from a tablet or a phone that can utilize this functionality?
