Can windows 10 home read encrypted files by bitlocker

I want to make sure if windows 10 home system can read encrypted files by bitlocker. Initially I assume not. But after plug in a drive encrypted by bitlocker for first time, windows 10 home system seems can read encrypted files. On the second time and rest, it prompts for password of the encrypted drive. After restart windows 10 home system, it can read encrypted files on the first plugin of drive again. Can someone explain to me what is going on? Thanks.
