how to turn serveral linux machines (centos) into server client on an ethernet with static IP

I am trying this for the first time, so not quite sure where to begin. I have looked at search and obviously end less amount of info. I have several Centos 7 machines, and I like to tu one into a LDAP server and other into a client. I am off the inteet and trying to use a dumb swith to act as an inteet.

Could anyone please tell me the types of files that I need to configure, and perhaps a good location to look at how to set this up. I have done this on virtual machine successfully. Thanks a lot
