Samsung SSD showing counterintuitive performance results

I have a 500GB Samsung Evo SSD that is experiencing weird symptoms (see here). However, I have an offshoot question specifically about the performance results:

In Samsung Magician performance test, seq. read is 553 MB/s and seq. write is 88 MB/s. However, I watched the Resource Monitor the whole time; Read never went over 1MB/s, but Write went up to 200MB/s.

What is happening here? Is another instance of Samsung cheating on benchmarks?
