Cross-browser bookmarks sync - offline [on hold]

I'm looking for a way to sync bookmarks across 3 browsers: Chrome, Firefox, and IE. I'm not crazy about web-based options like XMarks, and I'm determined to figure out a free way to achieve this. I need to devise a system that syncs automatically (periodically at least) and that doesn't depend on 3rd party servers.

Ideas?
