Chrome doesn't load pages when used as remote app using Remote Desktop

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server.

I have set up Chrome as a remote app that people can launch via Remote Desktop.

When I launch the remote app on my local machine (double-click the RDP file I created using RemoteApp Manager on the server), the remote Chrome app launches successfully but I get the frowny face in the tab titles and the empty gray background in the document pane.

In other questions on this topic, this has been solved by people with a general (full desktop) RDP session by launching Chrome with the --disable-gpu flag. I have configured the remote app to launch with this flag but the result is the same.

Had anyone solved this problem in the specific RemoteApp situation?
