My iPhone 6S Plus took important photos, & then 5 minutes later started restoring photos, now many are grey gray but the 16 KB thumbnails still exist

My iPhone 6S Plus took photos of a special night with my bridesmaids & also Hulk Hogan happened to be there, & I promised to send the pics. After I passed my phone around for everyone to see the photos, I immediately clicked on them to send them to everyone & my iPhone then started loading photos from 0 up until it loaded those again... at the bottom saying restoring... When it loaded those again, only one loaded back properly, the rest are grey with one tiny sliver that you can barely see on one side of the photo with what the photo used to look like, but when I downloaded them onto my computer, it still says "HDR" on the photos and the thumbnails exist perfectly... How can I get these back? I really need to, but I have tried everything I can think of... Thanks for any help that may work. - L

PS- I have a MacBook Pro, so I can't download JpegSnoop
