As in subject my OS is Windows 10 and I have a Lenovo labtop.
My goal is to have a dual boot Zorin version 11 on my current windows machine. I have tried two methods. One method, I tried to use Unetbootin on a flash drive. I downloaded the Zorin .iso file since it is not a supported distribution and was able to use Unetbootin to load the .iso file and transfer it to the USB drive. I then attempted to load from the USB drive by clicking SHIFT + Restart and prompting a start-up where I was able to select Use a Device > USB:CD. However, this just led to the booting up of Windows 10 as usual.
Another method was using the universal USB installer. Thinking something might be defective with my USB drive I partitioned 25 GB on an exteal hard drive and formatted it as FAT32 file system. I was able to use the universal USB installer on this G: drive partition. I then tried doing the same as with the flash drive but with selecting HDD:CD. This also failed.
Then I tried to change the boot order by selecting Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings. I was able to access the BIOS and change the boot order so that the drive with Windows 10 on it came last. However, the boot-up still led to Windows 10.
I think the problem may be that there isn't a partition sufficiently large on the labtop. However, I am unable to partition my C: drive to make room since Disk Management says there is zero available shrink space.
Here is an image of Disk Management showing 0 available shrink space of the C: drive despite 37% of the drive being free, and all the drives I have attempted to use for boot-up.
How can I partition my C: drive and ultimately have Zorin for a dual boot machine?
