I work for a franchise/corporation that does 'professional' screen repair, battery swaps and device repair in general. Primarily on iPads, iPhones, etc...
Long story short, one of my coworkers was replacing a digitizer on a 1st gen iPad Mini when he "heard a snap" and a screw went flying. He tued to my manager and asked, with a deer in the headlights expression on his face, "what was that?"
Welp, of course when the new digi was replaced, they found out that the LCD has blurred, thick 1/2 to 1 inch stripes going vertically across the screen. Similar but not the same as the picture attached. I just grabbed this image from the inteet because it was the closest resemblance I could find. (I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures)

The main difference between the picture and the actual iPad in question is that the entire LCD and digitizer still functions properly and there is no black spacing anywhere on the screen. If not for being blurred in portions of the screen, it would be fine. Furthermore, the stripes on the screen follow the apps and certain colors as the images move. Obviously, we can probably rule out software issues due to the incompetence of the tech. However, the really weird thing is that these stripes also appear when you take a screen shot.
Isn't this an indication that there is something more intrinsically wrong with the device than the LCD? Perhaps the 'graphics' portion of the MOBO, or something similarly vital?
Doesn't the fact that the screenshot sees the blurred lines mean that the stripes are being displayed/processed to the LCD. As opposed to the device displaying properly and then being distorted by a damaged LCD?
In any case he will be ordering in a new screen, which will take about a week to arrive. In the meantime I'm just trying to quell my curiosity by reaching out to the public. What do you think is going on here?
