Are there any Wordpress themes with lots of free space?

I'm trying to build a one page news site that is supposed to be projected onto a wall, like a billboard with the local news. This is what I'm trying to replace;

This can be done a lot better with wordpress and some plugins. The problem is that the beamer has a very flat resolution, about 1280 by 800 pixels, so I need as much space as possible. I'm looking for a very empty theme that only has a small header in which I can place the logo, preferably in the center, and a log in button for the editors. I've searched around for a full day, but I still couldn't find a good theme. I'm not familiar with PHP, however, I have installed jetpack and I am able to modify the CSS code.

Does anyone know a good minimalist theme that I can use without editing too mmuch of the CSS?
