check if special account exists

According to this page I need to add access for IIS AppPoolDefaultAppPool to run my website in IIS.

I also figured out that I can be more precise and can tighten security by adding access for IIS AppPoolenter_any_application_pool_name_here

To do this command line I can use icacls:

ICACLS test.txt /grant "IIS AppPoolmy_foo":F

But my question is: Can I check if these 'special' accounts exists, before I do this? I have already tried net user "IIS AppPoolmy_foo", but it doesn't seem to recognise these special accounts.
