I've spent the last couple of days trying to get port forwarding to work. Today I came across some useful information.
Before I continue, let me cover my bases. I've been attempting to open port 4444 on my Windows 10 machine that I have assigned the static IP of 192.168.1.13 to. The firewall is allowing port 4444 in both inbound and outbound on both TCP and UDP. I have no antivirus enabled. I have no firewall blocking the connection on the router control panel. I've attempted enabling DMZ on my Windows 10 machine and the ports refused to open. I'm using canyouseeme.org to test the ports. I've reset my router after making changes. I've ran netstat -a to view all open ports on my machine and it never retus any port I've added to the port forwarding rules on the router control panel. I only have one router. This is all info I've gathered from reading around and nothing has resolved my issue. Then I noticed something.
If I add a new port to forward and check to see if it's open right after adding it, canyouseeme.org says it's open. Upon refreshing, it says it's closed with the reason being 'connection timed out'. I know that the ISP isn't blocking it then, because it clearly opens, but closes almost immediately afterwards.
Useful Info:
Netgear N300 WNR2000v4 Genie
Firmware Version: V1.0.0.64
ISP: Armstrong (we get 55Mbps down / 6Mbps up)
If anyone has any idea what might be the issue, that would be greatly appreciated. I can provide screenshots of anything if necessary but I believe I put enough detail to help determine the issue.
