New certificate for disabling RC4?

As far as I know the certificate contains the public key and some information about the domain. The cipher-suites which may contain the RC4-ciphers are a just server configurations, that are independent from the certificate.

Some people told me I need a new certificate to disable RC4. Is there a relation between RC4 and a certificate, or is this false what I have been told?
