Use media server as proxy or remote storage?

I'm using a server to store files and host a few websites. I'm going to move to Germany, where torrenting laws are pretty restrictive, and still want to be able to download movies/music. I have the option to leave the server at home and the way I see it there are two ways to torrent "anonymously":

1. Use my server as a proxy (not 100% sure if this is truly anonymous)
2. Torrent the movies to the server, then download them from the server to my laptop when I need the movie.

My server has a lot more storage then my laptop so I would prefer option 2. Would this be a good choice? Are there any pitfalls I should look out for? Or is there a better third option?
