clonezilla cloning partition to partition doesn't work for Linux

First dd command would not help here. In my case I don't same size hard disks to clone.

Primary HDD: 500GB(around) Exteal HDD: 320GB(around)

I wish to move Elementary OS installed on my Primary HDD to Exteal HDD(which is smaller). So, I tried to clone / & home with clonezilla partition to partition clone & created a Linux Swap manually using GParted tool. Clone was successful but my OS doesn't boot from exteal HDD. On startup its just a black screen with blinking underscore(doesn't boot from Exteal HDD).

I read on Ubuntu Forums that clonezilla's partition to partition clone doesn't work in case of Ubuntu(Elementary OS). I saw a video tutorial for partition to partition clone for Windows Server(which is not Linux) but isn't there any no way to get this done?
